Artist Statement
In this age of information, I realised that as a Contemporary Artist I could use my background in Electrical Engineering to express my Art. Since 2013 I have been delving into the concept of TIME, by creating paintings that express Past/Present & Future simultaneously, through Entropy of pigment/colour dispersed in painting. It is a vortex of information and creativity that I am going through .When I paint in my Studio, I am lost in a realm of beauty through a quantum process that transcends meditation. In those moments, I feel bliss and realise that I am a Hologram of the Universe, where all the possibilities are open to me to express and create Art. |
About the ArtistAbel Pracas / Ages Jorbel I was born in Mozambique in the 50s and the African sculptures & paintings of my childhood had a tremendous impact on the way I enjoy Art. I studied Electrical Engineering (since at that time, it was the way to go). In 1974 I completed a trip of European Art appraisal through Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Greece. In 1977 I experienced Carnival and Red Indian Art in Brazil, and these two trips woke up the dormant creative right side of my brain. When I arrived in Australia in 1979 I was amazed to see the beauty of this land. The feeling was very strong, and like a catalyst, it started a fire inside of me of creative motivation to express the way I perceive the world, through painting. For 20 years I explored figurative imagery. However, I felt that as an Artist that it was quite limiting for me,since a camera’s photograph does an excellent job in that field. At the turn of the Century I started exploring Conceptual Art and Action Painting. Now I am delving into the concept of TIME, by creating paintings that express Past/Present & Future simultaneously, through Entropy of pigment/colour dispersal in painting. |
