I use entropy in my paintings to deconstruct the misleading concept of time.
Rather than treating time as a fixed sequence of past, present, and future, my work proposes that these conditions can be understood as coexisting states. Through the controlled dispersion of pigment and material at different levels of entropy, I construct paintings in which temporal experience is no longer linear, but simultaneous.
Each work brings together distinct energetic conditions within a single surface. Low entropy, medium entropy, and high entropy are not used as decorative variation, but as structural elements that question how reality is perceived and interpreted.
My practice stands between conceptual art and action painting. It is grounded in material process, but driven by a philosophical inquiry: how painting might reveal that time is not an absolute flow, but a framework through which change is interpreted.

About the Artist

Abel Pracas, also known as Ages Jorbel, is a contemporary artist based in Western Australia.
After working for many years in figurative art, he developed a conceptual painting practice centered on entropy, perception, and the illusion of time. His work explores how painting can move beyond representation and become a site for philosophical investigation.
Drawing on a long engagement with both art and scientific thought, Pracas uses material process to challenge linear assumptions about reality. His paintings bring together multiple entropy states within a single work, creating visual structures that suggest simultaneity rather than sequence.
His practice has been exhibited in Australia, New York, and Portugal, and has been featured on Colour in Your Life.
